PTD-External Face Spring Energized PTFE seal

PTD is commonly used in static sealing applications. External face seals are typically used to remove environmental media from exposed joints, hinge points or fittings. PTFE face seals are superior to traditional O-rings in pressure management, chemical compatibility, and operating temperature range. It is very common to use in cell applications. External face seals are used for static, slow rotating or oscillating equipment such as low-temperature flange seal or lid applications. High seal loads and face seals are ideal for gas and vacuum applications. Depending on the application, there are a variety of sealed jack materials and power types.

PTD is used for rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors. When the pump is running, liquid may leak between the rotating shaft and the fixed pump casing. Preventing such leakage can be difficult due to shaft rotation. The end faces mechanical seals use flexible and rigid elements that remain in contact at the sealing interface and slide against one another, allowing the rotating element to pass through the sealed housing. These components are hydraulically and mechanically equipped with springs or other means to maintain contact.
